First Day Back/Goals

New year, new start, right? Well our first day back at school was challenging, but we'll survive.

I have really been enjoying getting up before the children to do Bible study and then being dressed before they even get up. They seem to do better too, knowing I am there to help them and that breakfast will be on time :).

I also have enjoyed doing Bible study with the children as the first part of our day. Even LR and S have begun to ask for prayer before school. DH was skeptical. He thought they would "stall" with their Bible Study in order to avoid doing schoolwork. After spending a morning with us, helping, I think he understands.

I have encouraged my DH to make a list of goals for the upcoming year. Things he wants to improve on in the areas of home, family, spiritual, health, personal. I do this every year as well and review it from time to time to see how I am going. (Funny, but finishing a few lingering quilting projects always makes the list year after year. Hmmm) I think he has finishe his list, but I am still working on it.

At WW this week, however, we were asked to make some goals for ourselves regarding weight loss. I had no answer at the time (other than a new blessing from God) but after some thought I have come up with the following list. This list spans beyond 2007.

Goal #1 Be under 300#
It's very shocking to see this in print! I expect to achieve this by the end of January.

Goal #2 Reach a 10% loss of weight
I am already a third of the way there. Thank you God!

Goal #3 Be able to wear my wedding ring

Goal #4 Wear a size 18
This is something I haven't done since I was in high school.

Goal #5 Be able to cross my legs
In a ladylike modest manner :)

Goal #6 Lose enough to get pregnant
With the Lord's help.

Goal #7 Read my Goal Weight.

I'll let you know when I reach #1

New Year New Start

Well it's the beginning of a new year. Even though our holiday season began in the emergency room on Thanksgiving, we have had a lovely month. But now it is 2007 and I just love fresh starts! What I really love is the planning that goes into all the fresh starts! January first is truly an organizer's dream :).

I actually started three weeks ago when I joined Weight Watcher's and Curves with a friend. I am really enjoying the support. It is what I had been lacking all these years.

I read in the
CHEC homeschooling magazine that had really inspired my outlook for my life as a homeschool mom and parent. It applied 2 Peter 1:5 to help organize the school day.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge

God comes first in our day both for myself and the children. So the first thing I do when I wake up is pull out my bible. This has been a beautiful experience this holiday. I would get up and go into the living room and sit near the tree to study.

For the children, this will begin tomorrow. We have organize our school day to include Bible Study first instead of right before lunch or right after. We will all sit together and do our CBS study or some other study together. All of us except the baby :) whom I pray will learn as he plays nearby from the scripture being read. (he already at fifteen months hold hands, bows his head and prays at meals).

Next comes goodness. This is their character. School, eating, cleaning, playing aren't more important than who they are. So every effort will be made by myself to teach their heart all day long as they have opportunities to grow in integrity, honesty, goodness, kindness and so forth.

Then comes knowledge. Then we can get to the academics!

I have also begun to watch tv only on spa night (every girl needs a night to get girlified. I like to do mine on Sat night so I look good for God!). What I plan to do with my time are all those things I never have time to do....like blog. We will see how it goes with the other two late night tv watcher.

Other new things for this year is hopefully a renewing of our marriage, and more children :). These I leave to God.

I pray God blesses this new year with new opportunities!
